37 weeks
As most of you know, I am expecting our first child, Mason, and it's quickly coming to an end. I am in my 37th week and it won't be too much longer until Mason arrives. Monday, Adam & I went to my weekly checkup with Dr. Friedman. I was also scheduled for an ultrasound to check how big our little boy has grown, since our 18 week ultrasound.
We went into the ultrasound room first, and the tech quickly began looking for the routine measurements she needed to check his progress. He was moving all around for her and kicking everytime she tried to get a good look at the umbilical cord(his foot was near the cord). We were pleased to see that he is still indeed a little boy. I'm glad to say that he is already in the head down position and has dropped. The most surprising news of all...his weight. Our tech said the best way to give a close estimate of his weight is to measure his head and femur bone, instead of measuring his belly and his femur. By measuring his head compared to his belly, it usually measures within 2 or so ounces, compared to a half pound. Anyway, Mason already weighs 7lbs 12oz. He is a BIG BOY!
Following my ultrasound, I had my checkup with Dr. Friedman. As of Monday, I still haven't dilated, but I am almost completely effaced. He said that it could be any day and if not we will talk about inducing at my next appointment. At that point, he will see if I have progressed any further and base his decision off of that. He does however believe that I will not go until my due date.
