Pumpkin Patch

We took Mason to the pumpkin patch this weekend with the Mooney's. Everyone had a great time and we captured some great pictures.

Mason loved riding in the wagon. He had to hold onto the sides just like this, the entire time.

Crib Bedding

Do you realize how hard it is to find crib bedding that I like? I know there are a TON of choices out there, especially for girls, but I have an idea of what I want in my head and I'm learning it is hard to find. Not to mention, that everything I have expensive taste and everything I have found is $300 or more.

I have decided to go with Black/White/Hot Pink for Taylor's room. I have been searching online since we learned we were having a girl and that combination of colors is hard to find. Everything is either pale pink, zebra print (which I don't like for baby bedding), or too busy. I found exactly what I have had in mind today online, but of course it is $655. If you spend that amount, I'm not judging you, I just won't spend that kind of money on baby bedding.

My mom has been helping me with the search and I think we have decided that if I don't find anything online at a reasonable price, that is almost exactly or very close to this bedding I like, then we will make it ourselves. What do you think of the style and colors?

Mom & Dad's visit

It was a sad morning in our house. We woke up very early, to drive my parents to LAX to catch their flight. As my Dad & Mom got out of the truck, Mason started to cry. He normally doesn't like it when anyone leaves the vehicle, but this morning he cried out for his Granddad and Mimi. This past week has been a whirlwind of fun and adventures, but of course time flies when you are having fun.

Adam, unfortunately, had to leave town for business this past week, so it was just Mason & I that picked up my parents from the airport Tuesday afternoon. I knew my mom was worried about Mason forgetting his Mimi & Granddad, but she shouldn't have worried. He started screeching with excitement the minute he saw them.

My Dad worked on & off in LA for almost 2 years, when I was younger, so he knew all the good restaurants and places to go. Our plan was to have dinner at The Beach Hut in Hermosa Beach, but when we drove up, they were closed for dinner. Apparently, they only open for breakfast and lunch. So, we then proceeded to Manhattan Beach to have lunch on the deck at The Cheesecake Factory. I absolutely love the restaurant, and they even brought dessert for Daddy's birthday.

Wednesday morning, Luke came over as usual and we took the kiddos to the park. Bakersfield has beautiful parks all over the city and I'm lucky enough to have one a few blocks away from our house. That afternoon, we caught up on our sleep and relaxed around the house. Marissa called to let me know that our friend Jayme volunteered to watch Luke Thursday morning, so that I could take my parents and I could take a day trip.

The next morning, we decided to drive out to Hermosa Beach and eat The Beach Hut for lunch and then drive up the coast. The weather was perfect and there is nothing better then driving with the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. We ended up cutting through the mountains on the way home. It was a perfect day to take in the scenery and enjoy the time with my parents. It reminded me of all the drives we would take, when I was a little girl.

Friday afternoon, we took another drive up to Lake Isabella and somehow I remembered my way up to the cabin in Alta Sierra. I'm very lucky that Mason is so good in the car. If he isn't sleeping, he is playing or talking. That evening, Adam returned home after a long week away. I hated that he didn't get to spend that much time with the family, but sometimes things happen.

Daddy & Adam went golfing Saturday morning, while Mama & I took Mason shopping. We spent the afternoon showing my parents around Bakersfield. Before we knew it, it was time to pack their stuff up and head to the airport Sunday morning.

I hated saying goodbye, but I look forward to seeing them and others in 4 weeks, when I brave flying with a 16 month old on my pregnant lap. I wish I had taken more pictures, but these are some of my favorites.

Birthdays & Visitors

Today is great for many reasons. It's my Dad's birthday and my parents arrived this afternoon to spend the rest of the week with us. There trip was originally planned for the week the Hurricane Ike hit Houston, so we rescheduled for this week. Unfortunately, Adam was called away on business and won't be returning until Friday morning. I wish the circumstances could have been different, but atleast my parents are here with me while he is gone. Happy Birthday Daddy! I love you!

Braden's Birthday Party

Mason's friend, Braden, had his birthday party this past weekend. It was also a costume party. After searching for a costume, we decided he could be Santa Claus. We found a costume and thought it would be a good idea, given that Christmas is right around the corner.

Adam went as as baseball player

I went as a surgeon

Mason as Santa Claus

Madison was a princess

Luke as Pooh Bear

Braden & Ray as Batman

Boys will be boys

Last week, Mason was playing in the living room. He loves to hide behind the curtains and play peek-a-boo. While playing behind the curtains, he started to walk forwards, but couldn't see where he was walking and tripped over his toys. He started crying immediately and I ran over to pick him up. As soon as I picked him up, I realized that blood was all over his face. I couldn't tell where the blood was coming from, because he was so historical. I knew I had to calm him down and wash off his face the best I could in order to see where he was hurt. Eventually, I realized his tooth had cut his lip pretty bad and his nose was also bleeding. We put Elmo's World on and I held him until I burst into tears.

Of course I was upset that he fell, but my tears were a product of seeing my son's face covered in blood. The rest of the day, he acted fine and like nothing happened. I'm just glad he was ok and it wasn't more serious then it could have been.

I actually took out my camera minutes before he fell

The blood stained cloth from his mouth

His shirt had blood all over it (Surprisingly, all the blood came out of his shirt)

His lip looked fine from the outside, but on the inside it is bruised
Mason loves to kiss the picture frame of his cousins Jared & Connor

It's a.....

Our friend, Marissa, was so gracious to watch Mason for us during our appointment. So after we dropped him off, we made it to our appointment a little early. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long but the little one didn't want to cooperate. With legs crossed and hands over the "parts" it was hard to tell, but fortunately the legs stretched out and the hands moved away and we learned that we are having a GIRL! Mason is going to have a little sister, Taylor Reese. I will post ultrasound pictures as soon as Adam scans them later this evening.

Anxiously Waiting

Tomorrow, we will find out if Mason will have a baby brother or a sister. The ultrasound isn't until 3:45pm, but I will be sure to post the results in the evening.

The Calm Before The Storm

This past weekend, we drove up to the mountains, to stay at Ray & Marissa's families cabin. It was our first time to see the area and it was gorgeous. A cold front pushed through Friday night and it was cold & rainy Saturday, but perfect for staying cozy indoors and just relaxing. Mason had fun playing with Luke, Braden & Madison and us adults enjoyed the peace and quiet of doing basically nothing. It was the perfect weekend before a busy week, or should I say several weeks to come. (As usual, I brought my camera and never took it out)

This week: ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby, Braden's costume birthday party
Oct. 13 - 19: My parents arrive Tuesday afternoon and stay thru Sunday
Oct. 20 - 26: Nothing planned yet (maybe go to a Pumpkin Patch)
Oct. 27 - Nov. 2: Halloween (We're going to the church's Fall Festival)
Nov. 3 - Nov. 9: Another checkup and ultrasound, Rachel's baby shower, Katie's birthday and Bunco
Nov. 10 - Nov. 16: Laundry, Pack, Fly home to Houston that Saturday
Nov. 17 - Nov. 23: Mom's 50th birthday, Adam arrives in Houston
Nov. 24 - Nov. 30: Visit with family and friends, Thanksgiving, Shopping
Dec. 1 - Dec. 7: Laura's graduation from Baylor College of Medicine's P.A. School
Dec. 8 - Dec. 14: Christmas shopping
Dec. 15th - Dec. 21: Adam arrives on Friday
Dec. 22 - Dec. 28th: Christmas, say goodbye to family and friends, & leave Sunday morning to come back to California.

It's crazy to think that after this trip, the next time I see everyone, we will be a family of four.

14 or 15 weeks

I went in for my 14 week checkup today. After meeting with my doctor, he told me I'm measuring a week ahead of schedule. Normally, he wouldn't change my due date, but since Mason was 9 days early, induced, and still weighed 8lbs 10oz , it might change later in the pregnancy. Also, he told me that we could find out the sex of the baby today, but since Adam was at home with Mason, I didn't want to. Instead, we have our ultrasound scheduled for next Thursday afternoon. I can't wait to know and to be able to refer to this baby by name.

Btw, if you have any costume ideas, please comment on the previous post.

Costume ideas?

Next weekend, Mason's friend, Braden, is having his 3rd birthday party. It is also a costume party and I'm at a loss for costumes, not only for me, but for Mason. Any ideas? Btw, when it comes to Mason he doesn't like anything on his head or covering his face. When it comes to me, I have to take into account my pregnant belly. Both of these costumes will also be worn on Halloween at our church Fall Festival.

Will Smith & Joe Montana

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith & Joe Montana were at the BCHS football game we attended. Adam finally uploaded the pictures from his Blackberry.
