Couples Baby Shower

Friends from our Sunday School class thru us a double couples baby shower today. There is another couple, Kris & Kurt, who are expecting a little girl due exactly one week before us. So they decided to get the guys involved, except only three guys showed and two of them were the fathers-to-be. Crystal & Marissa hosted the shower and at Crystal's house, which worked out perfect for the little kids. They were able to play in the back yard and stay busy, while we opened gifts.

We played a couple of games and I didn't too well. You would think that I would ace it considering the amount of baby showers I have been to, including my own, but I had what I like to call "pregnancy brain."

The mothers-to-be with our co hosts, Marissa & Crystal. Anytime the cameras were out, the kids wanted to be in the pictures, except Mason. He was too busy playing with the jump rope and the toy laptop.

The fathers-to-be were the focus of one of the games. Each guy had to change their doll out of their dirty clothes and put on the clean clothes. Afterwards, they had to dig thru the box and put everything on the list into the diaper bag. The first one to finish, won. Adam tried very hard, but he lost by a few seconds. I'm still proud of you honey!

We received many wonderful gifts and it was nice to visit with everyone. We are so blessed to have such a caring and fun group in our Sunday School. I appreciate all of the thought that went into this shower and the kindness of everyone.

35 weeks

I had my 35 week appointment yesterday. I was looking forward to this appointment, because it would be the first time they would check to see if I had dilated any or thinned out. I have been having several contractions, all braxton hicks, but enough for me to hope that something was happening.

First they weighed me, and surprisingly I had lost two pounds. I haven't been sick and my appetite is still the same, so I was surprised to see that. It's not very common to lose weight, especially within weeks of your delivery. It is however common, to lose weight before delivery, but usually that is within a couple days. My doctor didn't seem worried about it and said if it continues to stay the same or I lose any more weight, they will do an ultrasound next week to make sure my amniotic fluid levels are okay.

I had my Group B strep test done. I was also told that I have a bladder infection. I honestly was so surprised, because I have had a few before and I can tell when I'm getting one. This time I had no clue. However, it does explain my contractions being so frequent. It can irritate your uterus and if not taken care of, can cause you to go into preterm labor. They put me on antibiotics for the next 7 days to clear it up. The downside, is that I can't take any heartburn medicine and that is a problem. Anything gives me heartburn these days, even water. I look forward to the day that I finish all of the medicine so that I can resume my daily Zantac regimen.

They checked to see if I had dilated any, but unfortunately nothing. While I was hoping some progress had been made, I wasn't too surprised. I was still only 1 cm with Mason when I was induced with him. They say you dilate sooner with your second, but that isn't always the case. I return next Thursday and at that time I will be just a day shy of being full term.

More than anyone!

4 years ago today, Adam & I went on our very first date. If you don't know the story, I blew him off for the first 7 months we knew each other. He seemed to good to be true and I had gotten out of a relationship and wasn't ready to be in one again. By the time we started talking again, I felt bad for blowing him off, because he was a really great guy and didn't deserve it.

We agreed to meet up after work at Cafe Adobe for dinner. Afterwards, I had free tickets to Gavin Degraw's Concert around the corner from the restaurant. I was a little nervous he wouldn't show, only because I did blew him off several months back and what if he decided to do the same thing to me. I'm glad he didn't. Dinner was fantastic and as we started walking to the venue, the skies opened and it began to pour. Both of us ran to the front doors, but we still ended up looking like we stepped out of a shower. I was freezing wet and needed to dry off immediately. I kept telling myself to play it cool, because what guy wants to be with a girl who whines about being wet the rest of the evening. So I went in the bathroom and towel dried the best I could, with all the other ladies doing the same thing. To be honest, after awhile, I didn't even realize that my clothes were still soaked, because we were having such a good time. Gavin puts on a great concert. He is better live then on CD and we were able to see him walking in the parking lot, as we walked to our cars. The rest of the story is history.

We share this day with a couple other occasions in my family. Today is also my nephew, Connor's, 3rd birthday. It is also the anniversary that my dad adopted us. So I treasure this day for many reasons. Tonight, Adam pulled out the CD and asked me to dance to our song. As we danced to "More than anyone," memories flooded my mind of the night of the concert. It's the same song we chose as our first dance as husband and wife. I love you Babe!

Painted Walls

Here are a few pictures of some of the rooms that we painted in the house. All of the bedrooms are still works in progress. Although the walls are painted, I still want to do a little more decorating in each room. Mason's room is still the nautical theme, but we are in the process of changing the theme to authentic baseball. I did receive the bedding from my mom and I LOVE IT! I put it on the crib this weekend and hung her curtains, but I still need to repaint the changing table, and find the decor pieces I have been looking for. Our bedroom is almost complete, but I don't like posting anything until it's all finished.

Mason loves anything related to baseballs, footballs, or basketballs these days. Last year, his Easter basket was in the shape of a baseball. I went to get something out of our hall closet on Saturday and he saw a glimpse of the basket and got so excited. I took it out and let him play with it. He immediately took the basket and put it on his head, like a hat. He loved running around the house with it on. I was able to catch a few pictures.

It's all coming together

Okay, now that I have posted the pictures, I will finally get around to updating. As mentioned, the painters came and painted all the rooms in our house, except the two bathrooms. I was very pleased with their work and they finished in two days. It is amazing what a fresh coat of paint will do to your house. It looks completely different and gives it more character. We have arranged all the furniture back into place, hung a majority of the pictures back up on the walls, and all we need to do is hang the curtains. Adam is not a fan of hanging curtains, but he has promised me it will get done by the end of this weekend.

Mason is now in his new room. He is still in the crib and I plan to keep him in it until he learns how to climb out of it. For the most part, he just lifts his leg to the top of the railing. I don't think he would know what to do once he got over the railing, except drop. He doesn't have any problems sleeping in there and actually loves it. He is so excited anytime he is in his room now. I think it's because we moved all of his toys in there as well. Although, I make sure to have everything put away before nap or bedtime. I don't like clutter.

Tonight, Adam and our friend Rick, are supposed to put Taylor's crib together. My mom mailed off the bedding last weekend, so hopefully it will be here soon and I can piece the room together bit by bit. I am still deciding on whether or not to paint the changing table or leave it alone. Adam also needs to put the new glider together. He has become my little handy man these days:) Here is a sneak peak at the blanket my mom made. These are the two fabrics I chose to use in her bedding.

Last week I went in for my 33 week check up. I have been going every two weeks and after my next appointment, it will be every week. My weight is still on target, actually it's still a little less than it was with Mason. Blood pressure and everything else turned out fine. When I go in next week, they will check to see if I have dilated, do my Strep B test, and hopefully discuss our birthing options in more detail. Dr. Helliwell did mention that he is pro elective inductions. I was induced with Mason, but that was due to his size and the fact that he had taken off all of his vernix. Right now, I'm leaning towards going into labor naturally. I'm all for an induction if deemed medically necessary. I could change my mind, but that will depend how I feel as it gets closer to her due date.

My parents are still in the beginning stages of the adoption process. They did switch agencies and have completed there 23 page application with the new agency. I'm not sure what will follow after they accept the application, my guess is they will begin the classes they need to take. Once I know more, I will let you know.

Belly pics

I feel so bad, because I haven't taken nearly as many belly photos as I did with Mason. Honestly, these are the first shots that I have taken of my pregnant belly since I found out I was pregnant with Taylor. Last week, Adam & I celebrated our 3rd Wedding Anniversary and went out for a nice dinner. I figured since I was all dressed up, I didn't mind having pictures of my belly, considering it won't be there for much longer.

33 weeks pregnant

We painted all of the rooms in the house last week. This is the only picture I have taken since we painted, mostly because I am still waiting on my husband to hang all of my curtains. Then I will be sure to post pictures of all of the rooms. For now, this is one of the walls in our living room.

I mentioned not that long ago that I was craving waffles, with chocolate and syrup. Here is the picture of my meal before I devoured it.

January Pictures

Here are the highlights of January. Most of the month, it rained and it was very cold, so we didn't spend too much time outside. With Mason getting sick, it took up a couple weeks of the month. I was hesitant to go places in case he came down sick again. So here are the pictures of my little man.

My son is fascinated with utensils and loves any spoon. I let him go to sleep with a toy spoon one night and when I went in to check on him, he was still clinching his spoon, several hours later.

It's here!

I'm so excited to announce that my new laptop has arrived. I ordered an HP G60t and I am happy with my purchase. I'm still in the process of transferring all of my old pictures over to the new computer and still need to upload all of the pictures that I have taken over the last month and a half (that includes some belly shots). So be sure to check back for pictures and new posts.

Our week

Life in our house this past week, has been turned upside down. Adam has been working on a project at work and it launched this past Sunday. Sunday alone, he worked from 2am to 2pm and went back that evening at 9pm and worked until 6am. He has been working 12 to 14 hour nights all week long. Thursday evening was the first night he was able to stay home. We celebrated by catching up on The Offfice and watching Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice and eating wings.

Last night we joined our friends and went to The Condor's Minor League Hockey game. I have only watched Hockey on TV, but it was so much fun to be at the game. It was family night for the school that Marissa teaches at and she invited us to tag along. Mason was definitely tired and had a moment during the second period where we thought we were going to have to leave, but his mood quickly changed once I gave him my bottle of water and he was able to play with that and stand in between my legs the rest of the night.

Adam had to work for a couple hours this morning, but once he gets home we have a busy day. Our friends recommended a painter to us and he starts painting all the rooms in the house, except the the two bathrooms, on Monday. That means we need to buy the paint and take everything off of the walls, move furniture around and take stuff to Goodwill.

I picked a tan color for the living room and our bedroom. The kitchen will be a shade of green. We are actually going to be switching Mason and Taylor's rooms. We want Mason to have the bigger room, so hopefully he will adjust to sleeping in a new room. His room will be a shade of blue and Taylor's room will be a pale shade of yellow.

It will be so nice to see the finished product. The dynamic of the house will change dramatically. This also means that we can finally hang all of our family photos and wedding photos that have sat in boxes since we moved. We weighed the option of painting ourselves, but I wouldn't be that much help at this stage of my pregnancy, not to mention that we have vaulted ceilings in the kitchen and living room. I don't think Adam wanted to paint the entire house himself.

My mom is almost done with Taylor's bedding. She sent me pictures the other night of the blanket, and the crib bumper. She just needs to finish the bed skirt and her pillow. I tried to post pictures, but Adam's laptop isn't a fan of this site and doesn't want to add them for me. Speaking of computers, we finally ordered my new laptop and hopefully it will be here within the next couple of weeks.

I only have 7 more weeks left until my due date. I go in for my next appointment Tuesday afternoon. I don't remember at what point they started checking if I have made progress, but I hope it's soon. I'm starting to get uncomfortable. I'm not complaining because I know I will miss my pregnancy once it's over. But I can't wait to hold my baby girl.

Poison Control

I had to call Poison Control this evening. Mason had gotten a hold of my prenatal vitamins and was able to open the bottle. I don't know how he was able to get it open, because I have trouble most of the time getting it open myself. Anyway, we noticed he had something in his mouth and then Adam told me the lid was off of my prenatals. He bit half of a pill and ate it. Gross. I can't stand the taste of the vitamins, but he apparently didn't mind too much. You would think he would be okay, since it's just a vitamin, but I needed to make sure for myself. After speaking with Poison Control, they told me that he is going to be fine and there is nothing to worry about, since he only digested a half of a pill. If he had taken a couple, he might start vomitting and have an upset stomach due to the iron in the vitamin. Atleast it was only a vitamin and nothing else.
